Why Locals Choose Roadrunner Boat Rental

"Amazing experience, I'm a local guy and have been renting boats once in a while in Pompano Beach and that was one of the best experience I had, the owner was very nice, everything was ready when we showed up, the boat was really nice. He provided ice for us and a cooler, he was waiting for us at the dock when we arrived and the price was very competitive. Strongly recommend."

Boat Rentals in Boca Raton and Pompano Beach

Roadrunner Boat Rental makes it easy to enjoy the best of South Florida boating. We serve Boca Raton, Pompano Beach, Lake Boca, the Intracoastal Waterway, and nearby destinations along the Boca Inlet and Hillsboro Inlet — sandbar afternoons, sightseeing cruises, and relaxing weekends on the water.

Our pontoons are built for comfort — wide decks, shaded seating, and plenty of room for families and small groups. Every rental includes gas, a stocked cooler, a floating mat, and life jackets in every size. You bring the snacks, music, and crew — we'll handle the rest.

Helpful Marina Planning Resource

Planning a day on the water is easier when boaters know where they can safely dock, refuel, find nearby marine services, or arrange an overnight slip. Before heading out for a fishing trip, coastal cruise, weekend getaway, or longer voyage, it helps to research marina options in advance.

For boaters looking for marina information, available slips, fuel docks, waterfront restaurants, marine mechanics, and local boating resources, visit WetSlipFinder. The platform helps boaters explore marina options and useful waterfront services across the United States.

Where You Can Go From Boca Raton

Most groups run the Intracoastal Waterway north to Lake Boca and the sandbar, the shallow protected lagoon in front of the Boca Raton Resort. Heading south takes you toward Deerfield Beach, Lighthouse Point and the Hillsboro Inlet with its historic lighthouse. The Boca Raton Inlet is right there too, though ocean conditions decide whether it's the right call on the day. Your rental length decides how far you can comfortably go, and we map the route out with you before you leave the dock.

Popular routes: Lake Boca boat rental, Intracoastal cruising, and sunset cruises.

Timing the Lake Boca Sandbar

Tides decide the depth and the anchor pattern. Saturday afternoons are peak energy, Sundays run a little calmer, and weekdays are quiet and family-friendly. We position you in the right anchor zone, drop the swim ladder, and let the group take over.

Local tips: bring more water than you think you need, pack a soft cooler instead of glass, and plan a golden-hour return up the Intracoastal.

Sunset Cruise Route

Push off about 90 minutes before sunset. The Intracoastal calms in the late afternoon, traffic thins out, and the light hits the waterfront estates and Lake Boca just right. Cruise the estate stretch, drift through the lagoon, and head back during blue hour.

Sunset trips are usually 2 hours and are among the easiest times to be on the water for first-time renters — calmer water, slower speeds, well-marked routes.

The Boat You'll Be On

Roadrunner rents pontoons. Flat deck, wide walkways, shaded seating, a cooler and room for up to 8 passengers — the right boat for anchoring at the sandbar, swimming and cruising the Intracoastal at an easy pace. They're also the simplest boat type to learn on, which matters if it's your first time behind the wheel.

Center consoles and motor yachts are common in Boca Raton generally, but they are not part of our fleet — we'd rather be clear than take a booking we can't deliver.

Self-Drive Only

Our standard rental is self-drive. You get a full orientation at the dock — controls, anchoring, no-wake zones, where to go and where not to — and we stay reachable by phone while you're out. No prior boating experience is required, and first-timers do this every week.

We do not offer captained charters — every Roadrunner rental is self-drive. If you have questions about whether your group is ready to drive, call 561-629-1108 and we'll walk you through it honestly before you book.

Planning a Lake Boca Sandbar Day

Lake Boca is busiest on weekends and holidays, and the water is shallow enough that where you anchor matters. Groups that leave earlier in the day generally find more room and calmer water. Four hours is the sweet spot: enough time to cruise up, anchor, swim and eat without watching the clock. Eight hours works better if you also want to run south toward Hillsboro Inlet or stop for lunch. Bring sunscreen, towels and your own food and drinks — the cooler and floating mat are already on board. For a longer read, see the Ultimate Lake Boca Guide or our Boca Raton boating guides.
